President Lisa Kauffman called the meeting to order at 8:40am. Board Officers Amanda Kleidermacher, Tim Orrange, Mary Porges, Lina Spalding-Ramsay, Deanna Christensen and Bruce Barham were present. Committee Chairs Suzie Sponder, Ben Cruz, Carolyn West, Patricia Cruz, Nely Martinez, Barbara Gelber, Monica Duran, Leda Barham, Rachel Spector and Joan Silverstein were also present. Assistant Principal Garcia attended.
Agenda item #1 – Welcome and Updates – Lisa Kauffman

Need to keep meeting to 45 minutes

Bylaws Amendment – need to be renewed every 3 years, next general membership meeting we need to present for approval, only change in template is allowing for discussion over the phone conference call and voting via conference call, 5 approved change vs. 3 nays

Nominating committee chaired by Leda, committee needs at least 3 people (must be an uneven number) – they are Rachel, Leda and Suzie, we will vote on committee at April’s general membership meeting, job is to nominate officers, potential officers will be presented and voted on May’s general membership meeting
Agenda item # 2 – 5th Grade Fundraising – Leda, Monica, Rachel and Carolyn

$2,226 raised so far for field trip, no money left and no additional events planned, still need DJ, photos, decorations, etc., meal is $23, PTA budget does not have additional money for 5th Grade graduation, 100% in 100% out as fundraising, student awards are covered by PTA budget, last year there was $500 in budget

Request to supplement 5th Grade fundraising will be presented in detail to next general membership meeting, it is a budget change the membership needs to vote on
Agenda item # 3 – Gala Update – Deanna Anderson

We netted about $15,000, $1,755 for Teacher of the Day,

Will work with room parents to determine activity for classes that did not have a Teacher for the Day winning bidder
Agenda item # 4 – Teacher Appreciation Week - Nely

Between $1,500-$2,000 available, last year event went $1,500 over budget, needs help for event
Agenda item # 5 – Principal’s Update – Barbi Garcia

Internet safety event tomorrow, need to set date for art / music festival
Agenda item # 6 – Financial Update – Tim

About $34,000 in the bank, have about $12,000 in checks to be deposited
Agenda item # 7 – Get Smart Walkathon – Joan

Event is April 16th, sponsor sheet will be distributed, money must comein before event, gifts for raffle, work with room parents, posters, April Butterfly, Joan will send info to Bruce for website
The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 am.
