President Lisa Kauffman called the meeting to order at 8:40am. Board Members present - Tim Orrange, Bruce Barham, Mary Porges, and Toni Anderson.
Agenda item #1 – Treasurer’s Update – Tim Orrange
- 236 paid PTA members
- 5% increase over last year awards Dade County PTA incentive
- One bank account
- Travelbiz.com will be put to a vote
- Insurance renewed
Agenda item # 2 – Upcoming Events – all
- Friday November 21st is next Board Meeting
- International Food Festival – Friday October 17th
- Book Fair – starts Monday October 27th
- Catalog Sales ends Monday October 27th
- Calendar for next year needs to be rethought – Festa Junina moved from last day of school, push IFF to November, etc.
Agenda item # 3 – Membership Campaign Update - all
- Membership Posters will be posted on Homeroom doors Monday October 20th
- Deadline for Membership Campaign is November15th
Agenda item # 4 – Next General Membership Meeting – Lisa Kauffman
- Judy Schaechter and key DCPS person are scheduled to attend
Agenda item # 5 – Determine topics for Butterfly, November calendar – all
- Membership Campaign
- Where PTA monies went
- International Food Festival, teacher grants, music instruments, etc.
- Next General Membership Meeting is Wednesday November 5th
Agenda item # 6 – Upcoming PTA Training – Lisa Kauffman
- Lisa will attend November Convention
Agenda item # 7 – Other – all
- Establish Standing Rules for PTA Board – determine rate for mileage reimbursement, Board can do business / vote via e-mail and phone, Board Members should attend meetings, and direct PTA expenditures with vendors as a direct billing (whenever possible) to avoid paying sales tax
- Lisa handed out Goals for 2008-09 Ada Merritt PTA – looking for input
- Room Parent communications – will try to issue weekly communication (Tuesdays) to avoid multiple e-mails and confusion
