General Membership Meeting Minutes
April 09, 2008
Art Room
President, Margueritte Ramos, called the meeting to order at 5:46pm. Board Members present included, Monica Duran, Toni Anderson. Principal Carmen Garcia and Assistant Principal Barbara Garcia were present.
Guest Speaker – Dunia Miranda-Mauri – SIPA Guatemala trip for 5th and 6th graders
-June 7th to the 16th – 30 spots – 10 days. 3 days in school, from 8:00am to 12:30pm.
-Open to Middle School students that are members of SIPA.
-Exposure to Hispanic Culture
Agenda item #1 – Brazilian Masquerade and Silent Auction
-Saturday, April 26th - Miami Beach Rowing Center
-Donations still needed. Please send in forms (completed).
-Send another flyer with information.
-We need ticket sales, items and volunteers
-Brazilian Film Festival Passes for first 25 tickets sold
Agenda item #2 – Earth Day – April 18th – Leda Barham
-Please sign in to volunteer; we need at least 10 volunteers for 2hr slots.
Whole day of events.

Agenda Item #5 – Riverside Park Update – Principal Garcia
-Agreement between Riverside Park, District and Region of City of Miami. City
Commission needs to sign.
-Shade structure
Agenda Item #6 – Friday Dress up Day for Pre-Earth Day
-To benefit 5th grade graduation.
Agenda Item #8 – Guest Speaker
Miguel de Garcia: School Supply Kits
-JustInTheNet.com
-To work in partnership with the AMK-8 website, to offer services for supplies packaged per grade levels, with opt/out options for those who don’t want the whole package.
-Other services: uniforms, books, tickets, enrollment, etc.
-Platform available to PTA.
-Percentage of purchases would be donated to the PTA. 40% of the 11% profit is donated, which is equal to 5% of sales.

-open to 4th to 6th graders
-May 22nd, Accelerated Readers go bowling
