Media Center

President, Margueritte Ramos, called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Board Members present included April Bolet, Monica Duran, Suzie Sponder, Toni Anderson, Douglas Labrozzi, Assistant Principal Barbara Garcia, and Principal Carmen Garcia. 

Agenda item #1 – Healthy People – Healthy Planet Update

Nike K-5 Run – presentation by Coach Gunkel

            $23.00 to join, 100% back to AMK-8

Weight Watchers Program for Administration, Teachers and Parents

Agenda item #2 – Budget Report

            Treasurer Doug Labrozzi presented the updated budget

Agenda item #3 – Fund Raising – April Bolet

            Catalog Sales Report – $24,000

            Online Catalog Sales  = 40% for the school

            Expenses -        $ 750  (letters sent home, pizza and ice cream parties for classrooms)

Agenda Item #4 – International Food Festival – Celebrating Street Festivals Around the World

1.       April Bolet – presented the theme and announced first planning meeting for Oct 5, 2007 – 8:30am – Media Room

2.       Claudio Grillo – Underwriting

$2,100 sponsorship

Agenda Item #5 – Book Fair

            Oct 10 – 17, 8-10am & 1:45 – 7:00pm

            Oct 9 – set up

Agenda Item #6 – Membership Drive

Carmen Partridge – membership drive ends on Oct 12.  As of this meeting’s date there were 261 members.

            Nelly Martinez – United Way Campaign to benefit the Peru disaster victims

            Hispanic Heritage Week, Día de la Hispanidad – Oct 15^th

                        Need help with presentations and decoration of front entrance

            Essay by 5^th graders – school related

Jacqui Roch to speak at the School Board regarding Art teachers, on Oct 17^th, after 6:00pm

Parent – Teacher conferences on Tuesday October 16^th.  Early dismissal will be at 11:45am.

Attendance: all will be considered unexcused unless proper justification is presented.

            3 business days must have a note

5 unexcused absences in a semester: the child’s grades will be withheld until parents have a conference

            Attendance Review Committee:

                        Attendance plan for each school

                        Tardiness

            Parent Portal – Need PIN and ID#  - See Ms. Forero for form and info

17 file cabinets and 20 tables have been donated and need to be picked up.  To be placed in classrooms.
